The following is an
excerpt from an interview held during the 2002 hiring year of the Toronto District School Board for a Secondary School position
Relevant Information:
· Two administrators
interview.

You get a rating from 1-3. 1
means hire right now and a rating of 2 gets you on the supply roster.
·
the board will contact you if you get hired into the pool.
·
the interview is about thirty minutes long so allow for about three
minutes per question.
·
They'll ask about 10-12 questions from the following:
Questions:
1. We've read through your package and we would like to know how
your experience in _______________________ has helped you in your teaching?
2. How would you want your students to view you?
3. You have a student having difficulties understanding a
concept. What would you do?
4. How do you meet the needs of the student who is not achieving
his/her potential?
5. Despite your efforts you have a student who is determined not to
participate and instead be disruptive.
What do you do?
6. Given the range of abilities and wide variety of student needs,
how would you meet the needs of your students?
7. What strategies would you use to ensure gender equity in your
classroom?
8. What is your understanding of anti-racist education and what
evidence would you use as a focus for antiracist education?
9. How would you use technology to enhance student learning?
10. Describe what you would
do to promote student success in literacy in your subject?
11. Parents can be meaningfully involved in a child's education -
how would you involve the parent who works all day and speaks limited English?
12. In addition to being a great teacher, how would you contribute
to shaping the school environment and school life?
13. Do you have any questions, anything else that you would like us
to know?
