Herman the Worm

 

 

(This is a fast paced chant. For full effect use lots of expression.)

Sittin’ on the fence post,

Chewin’ my bubble gum,

(smack, smack, smack, smack

Playin’ with my yo-yo,

Woo! Woo!

When along came Herman the Worm.

And he was this big.

(Show a small space between fingers.)

I said: “Herman, what happened?”

(Have the children name things that have been eaten.  For example, Herman could have eaten my sister, a tree, an elephant, etc.  Repeat from the start several times, each time show a bigger space between your fingers or hands and having the children name something else he has eaten.  For the last verse show a tiny space between fingers and end with:)

 

I said: “Herman what happened?”
”I burped!”
